Planning, idea’s and development of project

What? – Photography

But kind of photography? – Nature, Landscapes, Human landscapes

Why? – I love being outside I like nature.

Where? – Alderley Edge, North west Manchester.

How can this be a project? – I want to look at techniques, styles, editing, all things that make up high class Landscape photography.

Equipment? – Nikon D90, Tripod.

what could I get to help with my images? – Filters for the lens, Neutral density filters, shutter release, wide angle lens.

I am shooting with an Nikon 18 – 105mm lens, the numbers represent the Focal length of the lens, 18mm is considered a wide angle focal length for a 35mm camera , 105mm is not a a wide angle focal length, below are two image that show the difference between wide angle and non wide angle!

Wide angle image.

This is an example of a wide angle image, as we can see there is more in the image, particularly in the foreground, this image would have been shot with a focal length below 18mm

Non wide angle lens

The non wide angle image, lacks the sense of depth and scale that the wide angle shows us, it doesn’t have as much in the image and also it tends to feel cropped and restricted, this image could have been shot with anything above 18mm as a focal length.

Short Project –

Shoot a couple of images that are a great example of Wide angle, these can be of anything in the local area.

Image by myself at Alderley Edge

This image I have taken using the wide angle focal length of my camera lens, this means the lens would have been set to 18mm in focal length and this allows for a lot of information to be captured with the foreground of the image.

Sound and photography

I am continuing with my sound and photography project I recently visited the sea and i have captured some images and sound recordings from this trip! Editing the images in the style of Ansel Adams, as I feel this black and white contrast look will work well with the light captured in the images!

The images i have taken here will be paired with my recordings, in such a way as to create a contrast!

The below image has been edited in the style of Ansel Adams, the image was taken by me in Thornton – Cleveleys and was edited in Photoshop, it was transferred into black and white and then dodging and burning has been used to create drama and contrast!

My image in the style of Ansel Adams.

Above is the accompanying audio for the image, the rough sea’s contrast with peaceful sounds of the birds.

Contrast in Art and Photography

How can we represent the idea of contrast through art and photography?

think about it!!! and get some examples for next week!

New photography Project Brief

photography Brief

Title of Project: Away from the lakes

Name: Honey Rae

Date of start: 03/04/2020

Explain Project Idea:

The project will be exploring the relationship between sound and image, I will be using Shakerely Mere, and Lindo Common, as the location to take my photographs, I will be using my phone to capture the sound of the location! I have quickly written down the feeling and visuals of the locations for developing my ideas!

I meant to add the sound of the water to this brief as well!

So looking at the idea of contrast, I have looked to see any polar opposites that have appeared in my mind map here, I have isolated a few

Quiet > Talking

Lonely > Cars

Lakes > Cars

Chirping > Empty

Looking at these opposites that I have isolated, I have decided to explore the connection or the contrast between lakes and cars! I have decided to explore the idea of “Cars” with a audible approach, and to explore the concept of “Lakes” with a visual approach.

How will you shoot your Project:

At the moment I am doing daily walks to a few locations that are local to me, I will be taking my digital camera on these walks along with my mobile phone which I will to capture the sound of the locations, the images will be edited in photoshop and I will look at audacity to change and manipulate the audio that I capture!

The images will be shown on my blog, along with the audio!

Visually

For this project I will be working in colour photography! I will pay special attention to the colours that I see on my walks!

The colours that I have chosen here do not work so much as complimentary colours, so I have settled on a colour scheme of Blue and Green, so the prominent colours within my photographs will be blue and green!

During my shoots I will not be afraid to look at things in an abstract way! The image above is shot abstractly but sticks to the theme of blue and green!

What does blue and green sound like?

Blue sounds like water to me, so this could be an interesting visual approach for me to take! Green sounds like grass and tree’s so this could also be a contrasting approach to the colours.

In a more abstract approach I would say that green is a very calm and relaxed colour blue is a sad colour but could also be a calm colour this could be a consideration for atmosphere when shooting abstractly or conceptually!

Identify And Plan An Arts Challenge:

My new photography project is to explore and develop an impression of the market in Hyde town. i visit Hyde regularly and have recently began visiting the Market, we have found many strange and unusual items on the market and i have now began to document these objects with my camera in the studio.

Project Title:

The Hyde Market

Development Plan:

i will begin by looking at the history of Hyde market online, i will take an archival photography approach to the objects that i find on the market, i will research famous archival photographers and images, that i can use the aesthetic from. I will hopefully be working with another photographer (Faith) and we will aim to present an exhibition of the images of the market and the history at a location in the town.

Number Of Images:

10 +

Goal:

To create a visual story of the market through the archiving and collection of the goods that can be bought on there, i will create a literary history of the market that will run alongside the visual aspect.

Photographic Approach:

i will be working digitally, and using a still life approach to the capturing of the objects i will be working in a photographic studio and then i will be editing my images in photoshop if needs be, the images may be printed out for the exhibition.

Outcome:

To produce an exhibition with supporting text and research exploring Hyde Market.
